Description
ABB SPDSO14 Digital Input Module
SPDSO14 is a digital output module (DO) produced by ABB, belonging to the Symphony Plus I/O HR series (Harmony Rack), and can also be used for ABB 800xA DCS distributed control systems.
The core positioning is to convert the digital signals of the control system into switch outputs that can be executed by on-site devices, driving actuators such as relays, solenoid valves, and indicator lights.

ABB SPDSO14 Digital Input Module
In terms of main parameters, the module provides 16 independent output channels, with an open collector output type. Each channel supports 2A current and 24V DC voltage output. The response time for channel switching is less than 1 microsecond, and the isolation voltage between channels reaches 2500V AC, which can effectively suppress external interference. The working temperature range is from minus 20 degrees Celsius to plus 60 degrees Celsius, with a protection level of IP20. The module supports various industrial bus protocols such as PROFIBUS DP and Modbus RTU, and can adjust parameters through ABB configuration software (such as Control Builder).
In terms of physical characteristics, the module adopts a compact industrial grade design, with dimensions of approximately 120mm x 80mm x 30mm and a weight of approximately 0.2 to 0.44kg. It supports DIN rail installation and is easy to integrate into standard racks.
Typical application scenarios include motor start stop control, valve switch control, relay drive, alarm indicator light output, etc., widely used in industrial automation fields such as power, petrochemicals, water treatment, packaging machinery, and lifting machinery.
It should be noted that some information online describes SPDSO14 as an analog output module, which is incorrect. From the cross validation of multiple industrial control channels, SPDSO14 is clearly defined as a 16 channel digital output module, which is used in conjunction with models such as SPDSI14 (digital input) and SPFEC12 (analog input) in the same series to form a complete I/O subsystem. If you are doing project selection or fault replacement, it is recommended to confirm whether the system is Symphony Plus or 800xA platform, which is the key to determining whether the model is compatible.
