Description
NTDI01 (material number 6632113A1/6632112L1, also known as YNTDI01, NTDI01R, PNTDI01) is a digital I/O termination unit in the ABB Bailey INFI 90/Net 90 distributed control system. Its core function is to provide physical wiring interfaces and signal terminals between the INFI-NET communication network and on-site digital I/O devices. It is an irreplaceable signal junction node in the station level architecture.

core positioning
NTDI01 itself does not execute any control algorithms, nor does it collect or output process signals. It is a printed circuit board installed in the NFTP01 Field Termination Panel, serving as a physical interface bridge between controller modules (such as IMMFP01/02 multifunction processor, IMQRC01 quick response controller, IMMFC03/04/05 multifunction controller, IMCIS02 control I/O slave module, IMRIO02 remote I/O slave module, Bailey Control PC-90 processor, etc.) and on-site digital sensors, switches, and actuators. At the same time, it provides a Station Serial Link interface, supporting daisy chain expansion through terminal units such as NTCS02/04 or NTRL01/02/03, and can cascade up to multiple slave I/O modules.
Wiring and physical interface
Four sets of onboard terminal blocks (TB1 to TB4) provide physical connection points for digital input and digital output signals. Equipped with a terminal cable socket (P1), used to connect NTDI01 to the corresponding socket on the NFTP01 panel through the NKTU01/NKTU11 terminal unit cable, achieving electrical connection with the controller module. The terminal adopts a compression type, screw free connector, which can support up to 14 AWG wires. The terminal is equipped with foolproof keys and markings to prevent on-site wiring errors.
I/O capability
NTDI01 provides wiring capabilities for digital I/O signals, with typical configurations supporting multiple digital input and output channels. All I/O channels shall be electrically isolated from the system side at a voltage of not less than 2.5kV, effectively blocking the impact of on-site grounding circuits and transient interference on the controller. Digital input supports SOE (Sequence of Events) timestamp function, meeting the requirements of process industry for fault tracing. The I/O signal type is 24VDC level, compatible with INFI 90 system standard logic.
communication interface
Connected to the INFI-NET communication network through P1 socket and station level serial link, the transmission rate can reach 10Mbps and operates based on token passing protocol. NTDI01 is usually located at the end of the station level link in network topology, and cooperates with the terminal at the other end to complete signal matching. The same card can simultaneously serve the communication needs of the controller module and multiple slave I/O modules.
Electrical Characteristics
The working power supply is 24V DC, with a maximum current consumption of about 160mA (of which the LED indicator light consumes about 10mA). The module implements electrical isolation between the communication side and the field side, with overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and surge protection. Automatically detect the electrical ID of the module when powered on, and refuse to enter the running state when it does not match the system configuration, to prevent communication or signal errors caused by mismatches. The onboard LED indicator lights display real-time power status, communication activity, and fault conditions, making it easy to quickly locate problems on site. Supports hot swapping and can be replaced without interrupting INFI-NET communication when the system is powered on.
Physical specifications
The dimensions are approximately 18.2cm (width) x 17.8cm (depth) x 2.2cm (height), which is 7.0 inches x 7.0 inches x 0.875 inches. The net weight is approximately 0.34kg (some data indicates 0.4kg). Originating from the United States, it meets CE, UL, and ISO 9001 certifications. Adopting a standard printed circuit board design, it is fixed and installed inside the NFTP01 on-site terminal panel with screws. The working temperature meets the requirements of industrial sites and the protection level is IP20.
Typical Applications
NTDI01 is mainly used in brownfield sites such as power plants, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, metallurgy, water treatment, etc. that are still operating ABB INFI 90/Net 90 systems. In these scenarios, it ensures deterministic synchronous communication between the HMI screen updates, alarm propagation, and historical data recording of the operator station and the on-site control layer. When expanding the system, the daisy chain capability of NTDI01 can easily increase the number of slave I/O modules without the need to re plan the entire station level architecture. It can also be used in hybrid system configurations that require the Bailey Control PC-90 processor to be connected to an INFI 90 network.
