Processor and Performance
Equipped with industrial grade MPC8270 processor, based on PowerPC architecture, with a main frequency of 450MHz, running VxWorks real-time operating system. The control cycle can be as short as 1ms and supports parallel execution of up to 16 tasks. Equipped with 256MB RAM and flash memory for storing system programs and control logic, it can support the operation of large and complex applications. A single module can support up to 5000 I/O points and 1000 PID control loops.

Redundant design
Supporting a 1:1 dual machine hot redundancy architecture, two PM891 can form a redundant pair, with one primary and one backup. The switching time between primary and backup does not exceed 10ms, ensuring seamless operation of the system in case of hardware failure. The redundancy range covers the CPU itself, CEX communication expansion bus, Ethernet communication interface, and S800 I/O system. The CEX bus interconnect unit BC810 can divide the bus into independent segments, further enhancing fault tolerance.

[Communication Interface]
Built in 2 RJ45 redundant Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2), supporting TCP/IP, Modbus TCP and other protocols. Equipped with one isolated RJ45 serial port (COM4), dedicated for configuring tool connections and local debugging. Supports mainstream industrial communication protocols such as Profibus DP, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, Foundation Fieldbus, and seamlessly integrates third-party devices.

I/O expansion capability
Up to 7 S800 I/O module clusters can be connected through CEX Bus (Communication Expansion Bus), with each cluster supporting 12 units and flexible expansion of I/O points. 7 I/O clusters can be connected through the optical Module Bus, supporting redundant I/O configurations.

Reliability and Safety
Compliant with IEC 61508 SIL 2/SIL 3 functional safety standards, suitable for safety critical applications such as emergency stop systems (ESD). Built in real-time clock module, LED status indicator, Initiat reset button, and Secure Digital Interface (SDI). Built in web server, supporting remote monitoring and fault log analysis. Provide comprehensive event logging and advanced diagnostic functions to quickly locate faults and reduce downtime.

[Physical Specifications]
Adopting a single-chip unit design, integrating power supply, CPU board, and unit terminals. Protection level IP20, can be installed inside the control cabinet without additional casing. The working temperature range is -20 ° C to+60 ° C, and some models support -40 ° C to+70 ° C. The dimensions are approximately 245mm wide, 280mm deep, and 105mm high, with a weight of approximately 2.1kg. The module does not include an internal battery and requires an external battery module to maintain power-off data.

Programming and Configuration
Use ABB Compact Control Builder (Control Builder M) software for programming configuration, supporting all five programming languages of IEC 61131-3 standard: ladder diagram (LD), function block diagram (FBD), structured text (ST), sequential function diagram (SFC), and instruction list (IL). Provide offline simulation and debugging functions, seamlessly integrate with ABB 800xA system, support unified engineering management and HMI development.

Typical application areas
Industrial scenarios that require high availability and high-performance control include oil and gas extraction and processing, thermal power generation and new energy, chemical process control, water/wastewater treatment, pulp and paper, cement building materials, intelligent manufacturing production lines, etc.
