Description
NAIO-03F (part number 64669281) is an analog I/O expansion module launched by ABB, belonging to the Advant series control system product line. It is mainly used in conjunction with Symphony Plus PLS controllers (Advant Station 500/100 series) to provide additional digital input, analog input, and analog output channels for the system.
core functionality
This module integrates three types of I/O capabilities: 16 digital inputs (DI), supporting 24VDC or 48VDC voltage signals, each channel can be configured as high or low level effective, and comes with filtering options; 8-channel analog input (AI), voltage range -10V to+10V, current range 0mA to 20mA, used for collecting sensor signals such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate; 4-channel analog output (AO), voltage range 0V to 10V, current range 4mA to 20mA, used to drive actuators such as regulating valves and frequency converters.

Communication and Connection
The module is directly connected to the Symphony Plus PLS controller through the HR bus to achieve real-time data transmission. Simultaneously compatible with multiple communication protocols such as MODBUS RTU, RS485, Ethernet, etc., it can be integrated into control systems of different brands. Supports two working modes: point-to-point communication and monitoring communication. In terms of physical connections, it supports coaxial cables (RG59 B/U up to 300 meters per section, RG11 A/U up to 700 meters per section, BNC connectors) and optical fibers (multimode ST type, bus total length up to 1700 meters), in compliance with the IEC 1158-2 fieldbus standard.
Electrical Characteristics
The analog input accuracy is ± 0.1% of full scale, and the resolution can be configured from 12 to 16 bits. The module has a power consumption of less than 1W, a working temperature range of -20 ° C to+70 ° C, a protection level of IP65, and is suitable for industrial site environments with certain dust and humidity. Each channel is equipped with electrical isolation, and the input/output and system side isolation voltage is not less than 1500V rms, effectively blocking the impact of on-site grounding circuits and transient interference on the controller. The module also provides multiple protection functions such as overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and reverse connection protection.
Installation and Diagnosis
Adopting DIN rail installation, the size is compact (about 90mm × 35mm × 22mm), saving control cabinet space. The onboard LED indicator lights can display the working status and fault status of each channel in real time, making it easy to quickly locate problems on site. The module supports hot swapping and can be replaced when the I/O rack is powered on without cutting off the system power supply. Automatically detect the electrical ID of the module when powered on, and do not enter the running state when it does not match the system configuration, to prevent signal errors caused by mismatches.
Typical Applications
Mainly used for I/O expansion of DCS and PLC control systems, suitable for industries such as power, petrochemicals, metallurgy, water treatment, etc. In process control, on-site process parameters are collected through analog input, and after being calculated by the controller, the actuator is driven through analog output. At the same time, digital input is used to monitor the switch status of the equipment, forming a complete signal acquisition processing output loop. It is also commonly used for analog I/O expansion of ACS800 series frequency converters and AC500 series PLCs, improving the accuracy and flexibility of drive systems and logic control.
