Description
DSPC170 57310001-GL ABB Module
Introduction to ABB DSPC170 57310001-GL Central Processing Unit (CPU) Module
ABB DSPC170 57310001-GL is the core processor module in the ABB Symphony Plus S distributed control system (DCS). As the main controller of the Symphony I/O station, it is responsible for executing control logic, managing I/O communication, and exchanging data with higher-level systems such as System 800xA or factory history records. This module is an evolved product of the traditional INFI 90/Advant controller series, with higher processing speed, larger memory capacity, and stronger communication capabilities.

DSPC170 57310001-GL ABB Module
core positioning
The single slot CPU of Symphony Plus S I/O rack is the computing and communication hub of the entire I/O station. Suitable for critical task control scenarios that require high real-time and reliability, such as power plant boiler/turbine control, natural gas compression station regulation, chemical process sequence control, and safety interlocking.

I/O capacity: Each station supports up to 64 I/O modules (depending on rack configuration)
Redundancy support: Yes, paired with DSPC170R redundant partner module to achieve hot standby
Power consumption: approximately 5 W (powered through the backplane)
Working temperature: 0 ° C to+60 ° C
Protection level: IP20, suitable for installation inside control cabinets
Compatible with I/O racks: TK811, TK812, TK813
Main functional features
High speed real-time control: using a 32-bit RISC processor, the critical task scanning cycle is as low as 10ms, supporting fast (10ms), standard (100ms), and backend three-level task scheduling, meeting the deterministic requirements of time critical applications such as PID loops and safety interlocks.
Integrated communication architecture: The onboard Ethernet port can directly connect to System 800xA or peer controllers, and the integrated module bus controller communicates directly with the I/O module without the need for additional bus adapters (such as BAF100), simplifying the system architecture.
Redundant hot standby: Supports forming redundant pairs with DSPC170R to achieve controller level hot standby. During the main backup switching period, the communication status is automatically synchronized to ensure zero data loss and fault transfer. It is suitable for scenarios such as boiler control and pipeline SCADA that do not allow control interruptions.
Large capacity program support: 8MB program memory+4MB data storage, capable of carrying large-scale applications with more than 10000 functional blocks, suitable for overall control of complex processes.
Circuit monitoring and diagnosis: Supports online detection of open circuits, short circuits, and other abnormalities in the I/O module. Diagnostic information is reported to the main controller through the module bus and displayed on the CPU LCD screen, making it easy to quickly locate the fault channel.
Channel status indication: equipped with LED indicators for running, stopping, I/O normal, communication normal, redundancy status, etc., it can quickly determine the working status of modules and systems on site without the need for additional diagnostic tools.
Parameterized configuration: Supports parameter configuration through Control Builder M, including communication parameters, task scheduling, I/O mapping, etc. The configuration takes effect in real time, reducing downtime for debugging.
Hot plug support: Supports online hot plug replacement, maintenance can be completed without cutting off the power supply of the I/O station system, reducing the risk of downtime.
Start self check: Automatically check the electrical ID of the module when powered on, and do not enter the running state when it does not match the configuration, to prevent control abnormalities caused by mismatches.
Comparison with products in the same series
DSPC170 is a standard single slot CPU for Symphony Plus S series, positioned for universal critical task control. DSPC170R is its redundant partner module and must be used in pairs. DSPC172H (57310001-MP) is an enhanced version with a fiber optic serial port, which has stronger electromagnetic interference resistance and is suitable for high noise environments. DSPC171 (57310001-CC) is a power module. DSPC155 (57310001-CX) is an older generation processor with lower performance and memory than DSPC170. The core advantages of DSPC170 lie in its large memory, fast scanning, and integrated communication, which are the essential differences between it and other Symphony processors.
Typical application scenarios
Power industry: Boiler drum water level control, furnace pressure regulation, fuel air ratio control in coal-fired/gas-fired/combined cycle power plants.
Oil and gas industry: natural gas transportation compressor station control, pipeline pressure regulation, offshore platform instrument aggregation.
Chemical industry: reactor temperature/pressure sequential control, safety interlock drive.
Water treatment: boiler feedwater regulation, dosing system control.
